About Us

Conserving historic buildings is a pleasure and a privilege for those who are lucky enough to be involved in the sector.

Historic buildings come with a wealth of issues and obstacles from identifying new uses, navigating the planning system, identifying and instructing the right consultants and professionals and more often than not, financing works and alterations.

With a background as a commercial and residential Chartered Surveyor, I have over 10 years of experience working in large practises such as DTZ and Savills acting for developers, land owners, occupiers and landlords. My particular area of expertise is property development, the appraisal, valuation and delivery of properties and land for new use.

As an individual, I am committed to assisting you in the restoration of historic buildings and areas from the smallest of residential buildings to the largest commercial complexes. I have been self employed since 2013 and can help with the following aspects:-

·         Grant funding advice
·         Grant application and implementation
·         Development and viability appraisal for grant applications
·         Project management or coordination
·         Lease negotiation/ landlord and tenant advice
·         Purchase of historic buildings, either privately or as a community asset transfer
·         Liaison with local councils and other statutory bodies i.e. Historic England
·         Occupier/ tenant selection
·         Identifying and instructing professional consultants such as architects, quantity surveyors, solicitors and contractors

Drapers Hall

In 2013 I began working with The Drapers Hall Trust, a Coventry based charity set up to oversee the renovation and extension of the Grade II* listed hall. The regency dance hall, built in 1832, sits directly adjacent to the ruins of Coventry Cathedral although miraculously it survived the blitz unscathed. Over the following 2 years as project co-ordinator I secured a £2million grant from The Heritage Lottery Fund to aid its renovation and reuse as a space for music education and performance to be occupied in part by Coventry University. In addition, I was able to help the Trust to negotiate it long lease of the building from owners, Coventry City Council as well as advise on the transfer of public open space. The project is ongoing.
